Built by PAT Technology Systems in Vaudreuil-Dorion, Quebec, for laser work. The filters sit in rigid aluminum cartridges that hold their shape under suction, so the filtration keeps working as rated while the filters load.
Stage 1: F9 pre-filter
Catches most of the fine dust before it reaches the HEPA filter, so the HEPA lasts longer. Rigid aluminum cartridge.
Stage 2: HEPA filter
Tested at 99.999% efficiency at 0.3 microns. Rigid aluminum cartridge.
Stage 3: gas and carbon filter
Activated carbon blended with potassium permanganate to take out the gases and odours lasers produce. Rigid aluminum cartridge.
Desktop and mid-size lasers
FiltraBox’s portable unit. The top inlet keeps the footprint small, and the flow regulator holds extraction steady as the filters load. EZ-Link laser connection included.
Larger beds and heavy cutting
More airflow for bigger laser beds and heavier cutting. The same three-stage filtration, with each cartridge replaced on its own. Comes in X-1, X-2 and X-3 flow rates.
Small desktop lasers
Three-stage HEPA filtration in FiltraBox’s smallest unit. A fit for small-bed lasers such as the Epilog Fusion Ascent 12.
Extractor and stand in one
Replaces the Basys. The laser sits on top, so the Base doubles as the stand for an Ascent 12 or 24. Three separate filter stages, a quiet brushless blower that adjusts its own flow, and EZ-Link to switch it on and off with the laser.
BOFA's AD iQ models show remaining filter life as a percentage, warn before a change is due, and adjust power as the filters load.

If you can vent outside, a blower costs less up front and has no filters to replace. You supply the ducting, hose, clamps and reducers from the laser to the blower and from the blower to the outside.

Quote this blower →Blowers move air, they don't clean it. The smoke goes straight outside, so only use a blower where your building and local air quality rules allow it. To return air to the room, use a HEPA extractor.
Epilog lasers running with ducted exhaust and fume extractors.
Laser smoke carries fine particles and gases that you don't want to breathe. HEPA and carbon filtration removes them before the air comes back into the room.
Employers must control worker exposure to airborne contaminants. In BC that's Part 5 of the WorkSafeBC OHS Regulation, and other provinces have similar rules.
Smoke settles on the lens and mirrors. Dirty optics cut and engrave poorly and need cleaning or replacing sooner.
Smoke left in the cabinet gets in the beam path and leaves residue on the part, which shows up as uneven marks and edges.

If you can run a duct to the outside and local rules allow it, a blower is the cheaper choice and has no filters to replace. If you can’t vent outside, you need a filtering extractor that cleans the air and returns it to the room.

It depends on what you cut and for how long. Wood and acrylic cutting load filters much faster than light engraving. We stock replacement filters for FiltraBox, BOFA and Quatro and can set up a regular schedule.
