Labels in a panel shop
A panel shop labels every device on the door and inside the enclosure: pilot lights, selector switches, breakers, terminal strips, plus the panel nameplate. Waiting on an outside engraver holds up the build at the end, which is the worst place for a delay.
With a laser, the label list comes out of the drawing package, gets laid out in a template, and runs in one batch. Colour codes, character heights and wording come from the customer's spec and the standard you build to. The laser makes the label; it doesn't make it compliant.

Standards
Marking content comes from the standard and the customer's spec: UL 508A or CSA C22.2 No. 286 for the panel, the Canadian Electrical Code for equipment marking, and CSA Z462 for arc flash labels. Check those requirements before you set up templates.

What is a lamacoid?
It is the Canadian trade name for an engraved two-ply plastic label. The laser removes the top layer to show the contrasting core.
Do laser-engraved labels meet CSA or UL requirements?
The laser doesn't make a label compliant. The content, size and colour come from your spec and the standard you build to. The laser lets you produce exactly that, quickly.
Can we print labels straight from our drawings?
Most shops export the label list to a spreadsheet and merge it into a template in the laser software. We can show you how before you buy.
