Industrial Lasers Built to Last
Kern Laser Systems has been manufacturing large format laser equipment in Wadena, Minnesota since 1982. Their systems are purpose-built for production environments where uptime and output volume matter most.
Unlike desktop systems, Kern machines offer table sizes up to 80″ × 120″ (2,032 × 3,050 mm) and CO₂ laser sources up to 400 watts. They're the preferred choice for fabricators, sign shops, manufacturers, and anyone who needs to cut full sheets of material at scale.
Why Choose Kern
- Large format table sizes up to 80″ × 120″
- CO₂ laser sources from 50W to 400W
- Fiber laser options for direct metal cutting
- 3-year warranty on CO₂ laser sources
- K-Vision camera positioning system
- Rotary engraving compatible on all models
- Class I enclosed and Class IV open bed configurations
- Made in the USA — Wadena, Minnesota since 1982
The Kern Product Line
Six distinct platforms for every scale of production — from entry-level large format to dual-laser industrial systems.
OptiFlex
Most PopularThe most versatile machine in the Kern lineup. High-performance CO₂ laser cutting and engraving. Available in multiple table sizes from 52″ × 50″ up to 80″ × 120″. Ideal for acrylic, wood, metal, textiles, and foam. Rotary and K-Vision compatible.
- Table: 52×50 to 80×120 in
- Laser: CO₂ 50–400W
- Class IV (open bed)
- Metal cutting option available
LaserCELL
Enclosed SafetyAll the performance of the OptiFlex in a Class I (fully enclosed) design. Ideal for environments where open-bed operation is not appropriate — shops, schools, and production floors where operator proximity is a concern.
- Table: 52×50 in
- Laser: CO₂ 50–400W
- Class I (full enclosure)
- Rotary & K-Vision compatible
FiberCELL
Metal CuttingPurpose-built fiber laser metal cutter in a Class I enclosed format. Cuts mild steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and copper sheet. The go-to system for fabricators and metal processing shops requiring industrial throughput.
- Table: 52×50 in
- Laser: Fiber (metal cutting)
- Class I (full enclosure)
- Steel, SS, aluminum, brass, copper
OptiDual
High ProductionTwo laser sources on a single gantry for maximum throughput. Cut two identical pieces simultaneously or use two beams on a single workpiece for specialized applications. Available in multiple large format sizes.
- Table: 52×50 to 80×120 in
- Laser: Dual CO₂
- Light gauge metal, acrylic, wood
- Double the output of single-head systems
EcoFlex
Entry LevelEntry-level large format laser at an economical price point. Still equipped with the same powerful CO₂ laser sources as the larger Kern systems. A productive first step into industrial large-format laser cutting.
- Table: 52×50 to 52×100 in
- Laser: CO₂
- Class IV (open bed)
- Productive entry-level choice
Micro
Small FormatKern's compact small-format system, equipped with the same industrial CO₂ laser sources as the larger platforms. Available in 24″ × 24″ to 48″ × 24″ table sizes — perfect for shops that need Kern reliability in a smaller footprint.
- Table: 24×24 to 48×24 in
- Laser: CO₂ (same as large format)
- Rotary & K-Vision compatible
- Compact industrial footprint

Kern Applications
Large format systems open up a different class of work — bigger sheets, higher volumes, thicker materials.
Architectural & Commercial Signage
Full-sheet acrylic, aluminum composite, and foam board cutting for signs, displays, and dimensional letters.
Sheet Metal Fabrication
FiberCELL cuts mild steel, stainless, aluminum, brass, and copper. Competitive with plasma and waterjet for thin-gauge work.
Industrial Cutting
Gaskets, foam inserts, rubber seals, filter media, and technical textiles — large format makes batch production practical.
Wood & Cabinetry
Full 4×8 sheet processing for CNC-style cutting of cabinet parts, furniture components, and architectural millwork.
Plastic & Acrylic Fabrication
Clean cuts and fire-polished edges on acrylic, polycarbonate, PETG, and other engineering plastics.
Textile & Apparel
High-speed engraving and cutting of synthetic fabrics, leather, felt, and denim. Precise, sealed edges, no fraying.
